(ENG) ALTA AND FINNMARK - SEA AND MOUNTAIN TRIP

You can’t talk about Norway without mentioning its fjords... these are old glacial valleys that cover the length of the coastline and  have been flooded by  the sea. We will cross the Arctic circle, where the mountains have their "feet in the water". Sea and mountain are one, and the snow will taste of salt !
Using our boat as a base, every day we will explore a different  peak or one of the many little fjord islands.

The programme

DAY 1 - arrival Alta

Travel to Norway (Alta), short walk to the quay and night in the boat.

DAY 2 - 7

following the slow pace of the boat,  we will choose the different accents according to the level of the group  (we will be two guides) and the weather conditions (particularly the wind and the temperature).
The Oksfjord peninsula, the Stjernoya, Seiland and Soroya islands will be our playground.
Most of the time, we will go up a ridge or peak and ski down the other side.  The boat will continue on its way and wait for us near the coast at our finishing point at the end of the day.
On the last night, we will be alongside the quay in Alta.

DAY 8

Flight back to Oslo and the UK or France.

N.B, it is more difficult to reach Alta than Tromso, you may need a night in Oslo or Alta...

This itinerary is subject to change according to weather forecast, participants’ physical abilities and/or any reasons that could endanger the group safety.

Because of the stable cold temperatures, snow quality often stays excellent,  and without  any  tracks... As far as the level of difficulty is concerned, there are a whole range of options:  easy or steep, with glaciers or only gentle snow hills... As we do day tours and we will be two guides,  We can stay flexible and open to every kind of opportunity.

The skiing will not be very difficult, but there may be some considerable changes in height: between 800 and 1600m on occasions.
The most important point is the temperature,  which can be low, especially if there is wind and bad weather.
A good level of physical fitness is therefore required. Day tours, so light backpacks !

The price includes :
Guiding by two french Guide de Haute Montagne / full board during the stay / all costs for French guides / loan of avalanche beacon.

The price does not include:
Flights to Alta / cost for extra weight and ski personal expenses / taxi from Alta airport to the quay (about 15km) / Insurance covering the activity, cancellation insurance ( see with SERAC ) / Eventually the extra night in Oslo or Alta.
